Start here to see how it all works

Welcome. I’m Kate, I live in Sicily and I have lived in Italy for nearly fifteen years. I love the culture; the food, the language, the old architecture and the beautiful countryside that breeds a different type of Italian. These are people who are resilient, creative, and most of all, hospitable.

Letters from Sicily™ is a monthly snail mail subscription. Real post. Real stories. Written on the island and sent to you worldwide.

This is Sicily as it is lived. Bewitching, beguiling, breathtakingly beautiful in places, and downright ugly sometimes. Honest, always.

If you are wondering whether this is “your kind of thing”, start here.

This is not a fluffy sample written for marketing. It is a complete PDF copy of a real letter that was posted from Sicily to my subscribers in August.

What you will read about

Every letter, usually 3-4 pages, begins with something that genuinely happened here. It might be a place I visited, a conversation with a neighbour, an incident on our farm, a local tradition, or an ordinary moment that revealed something about Sicilian life.

One month it might be a neighbour dropping off a bucket of sheep’s milk. Another might bring a funeral procession that stopped the traffic, or a power cut that turned into an unplanned dinner by candlelight.

This is Sicily as it is lived, not Sicily as it appears in a holiday brochure.

This isn’t a mass-produced box. It’s a personal correspondence that is written, printed, packed, and posted from Sicily.

What some of our subscribers say

~ Fiona, Tuscany, Italy

“I thoroughly enjoyed your letter and look forward to receiving the next one.”
~ Maryland, USA

“I love that the bookmark actually has a tassel on it, the stickers are great, and the letter a real joy to read, I actually made a cup of tea to settle down with to read it.” ~ Rachel, Cornwall, UK

Delivery realities and our promise

International post can be unpredictable, and tracking is not available on standard letter mail.

Here is what I do if a letter goes astray.

  • If your letter goes astray, we pause your subscription for the following month.
  • If it does not arrive within 6 weeks of posting, we resend another letter out tracked.
  • We restart your subscription once it arrives.

If you ever have a delivery problem, email me through our contact page and I will help you.
