A Sicily subscription box worth having – The Grand Tour

For the connoisseur who want the island to arrive, almost entirely, in a single parcel.

Some letters are read in an evening. This one is unpacked slowly, piece by piece, across a whole week.

The Grand Tour is our most immersive Sicily subscription — not simply a letter, but a small, weighty parcel that carries the island’s flavours, scents, and stories together, the way Sicily itself rarely arrives in just one form.

Each month, before the box is sealed, I gather what the season has given us: what’s ripe, what’s been pressed, jarred, or baked in the weeks before, what a particular village has just finished celebrating. Then I write, and I pack, and I send it all to you, by post, the slow way.

You won’t know exactly what arrives until you open it. That’s rather the point.

What arrives in your Sicily subscription box each month?

A wax-sealed letter from Sicily

At the centre of every Grand Tour box is the same letter our other readers receive — written from a different corner of the island each month, carrying its festivals, folklore, landscapes, and the small daily observations that don’t make it into guidebooks.

This is still, first and always, a letter. Everything else is what gathers around it.

Three authentic Sicilian recipe cards

Three dishes this month, drawn from kitchens across the island — a coastal classic, perhaps something from the mountains, and one that ties back to whatever feast or harvest the letter is describing.

Collected together, they begin to read like a cookbook written one month at a time.

Three Sicilian-style stickers

A small scene from this month’s letter, included alongside the recipe cards and stickers.

For journals, letters, postcards, or simply for keeping.

Examples of some of our stickers

One 80g artisanal Sicilian soap

Crafted by local makers and scented differently each month — lemon, orange blossom, wild herbs, olive — a small daily ritual drawn from the island’s own ingredients.

One 100g slab of authentic Modica chocolate

Made using a centuries-old method unlike conventional chocolate production, this is one of Sicily’s most treasured culinary traditions, and one of the most requested items we send.

We source our chocolate from one of the top four producers in Modica.

Read the fascinating background to Modica Chocolate still made using a 500 year-old recipe.

A bag of Sicilian herbs 20g

Wild oregano, rosemary, or thyme, gathered from the same hillsides that appear in your letters — the kind of thing a Sicilian grandmother keeps in an old jar by the stove, used by the pinch, never measured.

And whatever the season allows; original artwork, extra-virgin olive oil (100ml), typical Sicilian products like these capers, and whatever other nuggets we find during the month.

This is where the Grand Tour becomes something closer to a discovery than a delivery.

The food and treasures that arrive each month are a way of tasting the letter, not the main event. Some months, you’ll find a small bottle of Sicilian olive oil (100ml) alongside a jar of honey, jam, or chutney made from whatever fruit the island has just finished harvesting. Other months, the oil makes way for something else entirely — flower salts from the salt flats of Trapani, a hand-painted Sicilian tile, perhaps, tucked in alongside the jars.

What arrives depends on the season, the harvest, and — quite honestly — on weight. Postage from Sicily is not gentle on a parcel, so each box is kept close to 500g, which means every month is a small act of deciding what the island can fit in the post this time.

The letter, the recipe cards, the stickers, the soap, the herbs, and the chocolate are constants — but what surrounds them changes with the season, the harvest, and whatever the island happens to have produced that month.

No two Grand Tour boxes are ever quite the same. That’s not a limitation. It’s the whole idea.

*Please note – If you have allergens please check the labels of what we send you, before consumption. Some of our gifts may contain, milk, nuts etc.

Why a Sicily subscription box and not just a letter?

Because some things about Sicily can’t be written down. The smell of warm bread isn’t something a letter can carry. Neither is the taste of chocolate made the old Modica way, or the particular scent of soap pressed with island herbs.

A letter tells you about Sicily. A subscription box lets you taste it, smell it, hold it — while you read.

Perfect for

  • Readers who want the fullest possible experience of island life

  • Anyone who has loved the letters and wants more of the island alongside them
